Guimaras Capitol Chorale

The Guimaras Capitol Chorale was chosen as one of the eight semi-finalists  in the 2016 Government Choral Competition spearheaded by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Regional Office No. 4.

The group, composed of 30 members from the different offices of the Provincial Government of Guimaras, was organized on March 10, 2015 by Vice Governor John Edward G. Gando, who was then a Board Member of said province. By virtue of Ordinance No. 2015-005 dated September 9, 2015, the Guimaras Capitol Chorale was recognized as the official chorale group of the province.

The grand finals of the Government Choral Competition is slated on September 13, 2016 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Seven other semi-finalists from Luzon, National Capital Region, and Mindanao will vie for the grand finals: Dasmariñas City Teachers Chorale, Pangasinan Provincial Chorale, Bayugan City Educators Chorale, Tagum City Chamber Chorale, Davao City Teachers Choir, Bangko Sentral Singers, and Pag-IBIG Fund Chorale. Guimaras Capitol Chorale is the sole semi-finalist from Visayas. It is their first time to join the said competition.

The Government Choral Competition is one of the highlights of the 116th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary. It aims to showcase musical creativity of government employees, promote Filipino culture and arts through choral singing, and inculcate a culture of excellence in public service. The grand prize winner will receive a plaque and P200,000 cash award.
