ILOILO CITY, Sept 14 (PIA) — Government workers in Western Visayas were urged to emulate the outstanding performances of the four regional finalists to the Civil Service Commission’s (CSC) Hero ang Public Servant (HAP) national level.

CSC Commissioner Robert S. Martinez, guest speaker during the recognition program for the 2012 HAP finalists, expects the region’s finalists will serve as an inspiration for government workers in the region to continue with the hard work, dedication and perseverance in serving the public.

“President Benigno S. Aquino III will award the finalists coming from the various regions of the country,” said Commissioner Martinez as he hoped that the region’s finalists will also get the national recognition at the national awards which will be held on September 19 in Malacanang.

Martinez exhorted government workers to emulate accomplishments of the four regional finalists “para diretso tayo sa progreso at development via matuwid na daan (So we’re on our way to progress and development through a straight path).”

The Region 6 HAP finalists are: CSC Pagasa Award-Maricel M. Bechayada, Local Government Operations Officer VI, Cluster Head, DILG Kalibo Fiel Office ; Claire D. Caberoy, Pharmacist 1, Capiz Provincial Health Office; and for Group Category- Capiz Provincial Health Office;

For Dangal ng Bayan Award: Haydee P. Pasuelo, State Auditor IV, COA RO6; and Dr. Editha L. Magallanes, University President, Capiz State University.

The Give it Your Shot Photography contest was awarded to Dexter G. Sizon of the Pavia, Iloilo local government Unit.

Commissioner Martirez, CSC Director IV Rodolfo B. Encajonado and Director III Raymund F. Gonzales distributed the awards to the concerned winners.

President Aquino in his video message for the observance of the 112th anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service said, “Nang simulan nating bagtasin ang tuwid na landas, bitbit natin ang layong mabigyan ng panibagong mukha ang pamahalaan. Mula sa dilim ng nakaraan, inihatid natin ito sa liwanag ng mabuting pamumuno. Ang dating mga pugad ng katiwalian, ginagawa na nating bukal ng tunay na serbisyo. Iisang direksyon ang pinili nating tahakin — ang mapagsilbihan ang ating tunay na mga ‘boss,’ ang sambayanang Pilipino.” (JCM/VWV-PIA6 Iloilo)
